Gene Stratton Jr. , 28, 3315 Fourth Street, Berwick, LA was arrested on April 26, 2016 at 7:32 pm for the following offenses:
- Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute
- Possession of Schedule IV (tramadol)
- Possession of drug paraphernalia

Herbert Fontenot, Jr. , 43, 179 Country Village Drive, Bayou L’Ourse, LA was arrested on April 26, 2016 at 7:32 pm for possession of Legend Drugs (Flexeril and Zorvolex).
Detectives of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division conducted a search warrant at the residence of Stratton and located marijuana, tramadol pills, and items of drug paraphernalia. Detectives also located Flexeril and Zorvolex pills in a pill bottle for which Fontenot could not provide a prescription. Both subjects were transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Fontenot was released on a $1,000 bond. Stratton was released on a $10,000 bond.

Chance Landry , 26, 204 Aristile Road, Bayou L’Ourse, LA was arrested on April 27, 2016 at 9:55 am on a warrant for monetary instrument abuse. A detectives investigating a February 2016 complaint collected evidence that Landry cashed a counterfeit check in the amount of $2,356.87 at a business in Amelia. Landry turned himself in to the detective at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City and was transported to the parish jail for booking. Landry was released after posting $750 bond.

Charlene Bell , 60, 221 Sanders Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on April 27, 2016 at 11:19 am on a felony warrant for issuing worthless checks over $3,500 to a Franklin business. A deputy assigned to the Warrants Division went to a location on Chatsworth Road in Franklin in reference to serving the warrant and located Bell. Bell was released on a summons to appear in court on June 13, 2016.

Juvenile female , 16, Ashton, LA was arrested on April 27, 2016 at 5:20 pm for disturbing the peace (obscene language) and resisting an officer. A deputy responding to a disturbance at a residence in Ashton observed a female subject yelling profanities outside of the home causing a disturbance in the neighborhood. The subject, identified as a juvenile, refused to stop yelling despite the deputy’s repeated requests to do so. During the juvenile’s arrest, she attempted to pull away from the deputy. Following the investigation, the juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.

John Banks , 43, 100 Sorrel Road #2, Sorrel, LA was arrested on April 27, 2016 at 7:28 pm on a warrant for domestic abuse battery (strangulation). A deputy investigating a separate complaint made contact with Banks at his residence and located the active warrant for his arrest. Banks was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
The warrant stems from a January 2016 investigation into a complaint of a disturbance at a residence in Sorrel. Deputies found evidence that Banks struck a female victim in the head and grabbed the victim’s throat cutting off her ability to breathe. Banks then left the area. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Ervin Gant, Jr. , 47, 805 St. John Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on April 27, 2016 at 11:11 am on 3 warrants for the charges of failure to register as a sex offender, Failure to obtain special identification card as a sex offender, and failure to register as a sex offender (giving false information). Gant was convicted of carnal knowledge of a juvenile in St. Mary Parish in 2004. A detective with the Sex Offender Compliance Division conducting a compliance check on Gant found evidence that provided false information regarding his place of residence. The detective also found that Gant failed to renew his registration as a sex offender and failed to obtain the special ID as a sex offender as required. Warrants were issued for Gant’s arrest. Gant was transported from the Lafayette Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the charges. No bail is set.
