13 names appear on the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office arrest report, which covers the last holiday reporting period. Deputies say they investigated 166 complaints.

Jeremy Stokes, 31, 470 Gumpoint Lane, Franklin LA, was arrested on July 1, 2016 at 3:11pm for entering contraband into a penal institution. A deputy assigned to the security team at the parish jail located a cellular phone on an offender, Stokes. Stokes remains incarcerated at the Law Enforcement Center in Centerville. No bail is set.

Heather Vicknair, 34, 186 Gibbs Road, Franklin LA, was arrested on July 1, 2016 at 9:16am for speeding, no insurance and expired license plate. A deputy patrolling Highway 87 in the Franklin area was alerted by radar of a vehicle traveling westbound at a high rate of speed. The deputy initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Vicknair. During the investigation, the deputy learned that Vicknair did not have insurance and that her license plate was expired. Vicknair was released on summons to appear in court on October 17, 2016.

Robert Gros, 47, 1101 ½ Sixth Street, Morgan City LA, was arrested on July 1, 2016 at 5:11pm on charges of failure to yield to vehicles approaching intersections and driving under suspension. A deputy monitoring traffic on Highway 90 in the Jeanerette area observed a vehicle proceed out onto the roadway in front of oncoming traffic. The maneuver caused several motorists to quickly apply their brakes and slow to avoid a collision. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Gros, and learned that his license was suspended. Gros was released on a summons to appear in court on October 17, 2016.

Reid Simoneaux, 20, 3816 Chitimacha Trail, Charenton LA, was arrested on July 2, 2016 at 12:09am for possession of marijuana and a broken taillight. A deputy patrolling the Franklin area observed a vehicle traveling on Main St with a broken taillight. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Simoneaux. During the investigation, Simoneaux was searched and found to be in possession of marijuana. He was transported to the parish jail for booking and later released on a summons to appear in court on October 17, 2016.

Waynisha Jones Navy, 31, 310 Railroad Avenue, Morgan City LA, was arrested on July 2, 2016 at 2:19am on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, hit and run driving and driving under suspension. A deputy patrolling the Patterson area was alerted of a hit and run that occurred in a nearby parking lot. The deputy found the vehicle involved in the crash and made contact with the driver, Navy. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that Navy’s license was suspended and that she was operating her vehicle while intoxicated. She provided a breath sample, which resulted in a .081g% blood alcohol content. She was transported to the St Mary Parish Law enforcement Center for booking and incarceration. She was later released on a $7,477.50 bond.

Navarrete Santiago, 20, 137 South Verrett Street, Amelia LA was arrested on July 2, 2016 at 2:30am for no driver’s license. A deputy assigned to the Amelia area responded to a call of a crash. Details of the call included that a vehicle had struck two mailboxes. The deputy located the vehicle matching the description given and made contact with the driver, Santiago. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that Santiago did not have a driver’s license. Santiago was released on a summons to appear in court on October 17, 2016.

Lonnie Baker, 24, 411 Taft Street, Patterson LA, was arrested on July 2, 2016 at 3:13pm for driving under suspension. A deputy patrolling the Bayou Vista area observed a vehicle with a plastic bag attached to its undercarriage. The deputy conducted a stop and alerted the driver, Baker, of the issue. During the encounter, the deputy learned that Baker’s license was suspended. He was released on a summons to appear in court on October 17, 2016.

Hugo Cantu, 33, 106 Village Lane, Amelia LA, was arrested on July 3, 2016 at 3:07am for simple criminal damage to property and domestic abuse aggravated assault. A deputy assigned to patrol the Amelia area responded to a disturbance at a residence on Village Lane. The deputy learned that Cantu was swinging a bat and threatened to kill several people. Cantu then started swinging the bat causing damage to a camper trailer. He was transported to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $3500.

Derrick Edmonds, 55, 1248 MLK Boulevard, Charenton LA, was arrested on July 3, 2016 at 10:23am on the charge of Aggravated Battery. Deputies responded to a report of a stabbing at a residence in Charenton. During the course of the investigation, deputies learned that Edmonds stabbed a female victim one time in the chest. Edmonds was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Marcelain McGoff, 19, 3868 Irish Bend Rd, Charenton LA, was arrested on July 2, 2016 at 6:56pm for simple battery. McGoff turned himself in to the parish jail after learning of a warrant for his arrest. The warrant stems from an incident reported to the Sheriff’s Office on June 23, 2016. In that incident, Mcgoff was said to have thrown a female victim to the ground after an argument. He was ultimately released after posting a $500 bail amount.

Blake Dinger, 23, 330 Neptune Street, Bayou Vista LA, was arrested on July 3, 2016 at 5:08pm for disturbing the peace. Deputies responded to a disturbance at a business in Bayou Vista. During the course of the investigation, deputies learned that Dinger was engaged in an argument with another individual. Dinger was found to be intoxicated, and, was yelling at several other customers going in and out of the business. He was transported to the Law Enforcement Center in Centerville for booking. He was later released on a summons to appear in court on October 17, 2016.

Benjamin Broussard, 30, 126 Natalie Lane, Patterson LA, was arrested on July 4, 2016 at 10:33pm for disturbing the peace by intoxication, aggravated battery and simple assault. A deputy assigned to work the Patterson area responded to a disturbance on Natalie Lane. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that Broussard was involved in a fight with a male victim and threatened do to harm to both a male and female victim. Broussard was intoxicated during the incident. He was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set at this time.

 

Cary Cheramie, 31, 133 Shady Grove, Patterson LA, was arrested on July 1, 2016 at 12:50pm on the following charges:

-     Possession of synthetic cannabinoids

-     Possession of schedule IV (Tramadol)

-     Possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor

-     Abuse of toxic vapors

Detectives with the St Mary Parish Narcotics Division responded to a call concerning illegal drug activity at a residence on Shady Grove in Patterson. During the investigation, detectives made contact with Cheramie and found him to be in possession of synthetic cannabinoids in the presence of a minor. A subsequent search ensued and Cheramie was found to be in possession of a schedule IV narcotic, tramadol. He ultimately admitted to consuming synthetic marijuana. Cheramie was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
