The following is a list of the people who were arrested by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office for September 19, 2016:

Zachery Romero, 27, 2802 Atchafalaya River Highway, Breaux Bridge, LA was arrested on September 16, 2016 at 2:25 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of speeding and driving with a suspended license. A correctional officer transported Romero to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center from the Lafayette Parish jail. Romero was released on a $750 bond.

Samuel Lacoste, 38, 129 Natalie Lane, Patterson, LA was arrested on September 16, 2016 at 5:00 pm for careless operation of a motor vehicle and possession of Schedule I drugs. A deputy was dispatched to the scene of a single vehicle crash on Highway 90 near the Siracusa overpass. The deputy observed a vehicle that had crashed into the woods. The driver, identified as Lacoste, and a passenger were both transported to Teche Regional Medical Center for treatment. The driver was identified as Lacoste. The deputy found evidence that Lacoste’s vision was impaired due to heavy rain when he lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway, and crashed into the wood line. The deputy also located marijuana cigarettes inside the vehicle. Following Lacoste’s release from the medical facility he was transported to the parish jail for booking. Lacoste was released on a summons to appear in court on December 14, 2016.

Wendell Chauvin, 56, 4055 Francis Street, Berwick, LA was arrested on September 16, 2016 at 6:00 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal damage to property. Chauvin turned himself in on the warrant at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center and was released after time served.

Mallory Harris, 30, 1812 Highway 182 East, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on September 17, 2016 at 12:02 am for disturbing the peace and remaining where forbidden. A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance in progress at a business on Highway 90 in Bayou Vista. The deputy made contact with Harris and several other subjects. The deputy collected statements indicating that Harris repeatedly yelled and cursed at another female subject inside the store despite being asked multiple times to leave the location. Harris was released on a summons to appear in court on December 14, 2016.

Jessica Comeaux, 36, 104 Pedro Court, Gibson, LA was arrested on September 17, 2016 at 3:19 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of issuing worthless checks. A deputy investigating a report of a suspicious vehicle on Arlington Road in Bayou Vista made contact with Comeaux and located the active warrant for her arrest. Comeaux was transported to the parish jail for booking. Comeaux was released on a $5,000 recognizance bond.

Joseph Fine, 56, 609 5th Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on September 17, 2016 at 3:31 pm for driving under suspension. While patrolling St. Joseph, a deputy observed a vehicle stop in the middle of Irish Bend Road and begin backing up in the roadway. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Fine, who was found to be operating the pick-up truck with a suspended license. Fine was released on a summons to appear in court on December 14, 2016.

Christina Derouen, 30, 1806 South Iberia Street, New Iberia, LA was arrested on September 18, 2016 at 3:36 am for the following offenses:

-     Failure to report an accident

-     Careless operation of a motor vehicle

-     Hit and run driving

-     Possession of Schedule II (Vyvanse and Focalin)

-     Possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance

-     Possession of (open) alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles

A deputy was dispatched to a single vehicle crash on Highway 182 near Highway 90 in Bayou Vista. The deputy located an unoccupied vehicle in the ditch between the 2 roadways. The deputy also observed an open bottle of beer on the ground near the car and several bottles inside the vehicle. Deputies also found a wallet containing Derouen’s information, a Focalin pill, and a handgun inside the car. The St. Mary Parish sheriff’s Office then received a complaint of a suspicious subject walking on Highway 182 near Moon Road. Deputies located the subject and identified her as Derouen. Deputies found evidence indicating that Derouen was operating the vehicle at the time of the crash and left the scene without reporting the accident. During her arrest, a deputy located Vyvanse pills on her person. Derouen was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Derrick White, 35, 156 Rogers Lane, Charenton, LA was arrested on September 18, 2016 at 10:03 pm on a warrant for second degree battery. A deputy investigated a complaint of a battery that occurred at a residence on Martin Luther King Road in Charenton. The victim sought medical treatment at an area hospital. The deputy collected evidence that White struck the male victim in the head several times causing a deep cut on his face. The deputy obtained a warrant for White’s arrest and located him at his residence. White was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Wendy Dalfrey, 39, 3038 Highway 1, Galliano, LA was arrested on September 18, 2016 at 12:31 pm for possession of drug paraphernalia. A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a business on Ralph Darden Memorial Parkway in Charenton. The deputy made contact with a subject identified as Dalfrey. While speaking with her, the deputy observed a glass pipe containing steel wool fall from her person. The pipe is consistent with those used to smoke crack cocaine. Dalfrey was transported to the parish jail for booking. Dalfrey was released on a summons to appear in court on December 14, 2016.

Charles J. Butler, III, 36, 248 Edmond Lane, Charenton, LA was arrested on September 18, 2016 at 2:55 pm for resisting an officer and on a warrant for simple battery and aggravated assault.

Jeremy Butler, 29, 248 Edmond Lane, Charenton, LA was arrested on September 18, 2016 at 2:55 pm for the following offenses:

-     Resisting an officer

-     Warrant for disturbing the peace and resisting an officer

-     Warrant for failure to appear on the charges of remaining where forbidden, threatening a public official, and resisting an officer

Deputies went to the address of 248 Edmond Lane to locate C. Butler who was wanted on an active warrant. A deputy observed a male subject exit the rear of the residence and ordered him to stop. The subject saw the deputy, ran back inside the residence, and slammed the door. The deputy followed the subject inside. Meanwhile, on the front porch, a deputy made contact with a female subject. While speaking with the woman, the deputy observed C. Butler step out onto the porch. As the deputy spoke with Butler, the suspect fled on foot, running into some thick vegetation behind the residence. Inside the residence, a deputy located the unidentified male subject hiding on top of a pile of clothes in a closet behind a curtain. The deputy identified the subject as J. Butler who was wanted on 2 active warrants. Outside, behind the residence, the other deputy pursued C. Butler on foot. The deputy apprehended him after C. Butler became tangled in the vegetation. C. Butler and J. Butler were both transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set. 

The warrant for C. Butler on the charges of simple battery and aggravated assault was issued after a deputy responded to a disturbance in progress at a residence in Charenton. The deputy collected evidence that C. Butler threatened a female victim with a shovel. The deputy also found evidence that C. Butler grabbed the female by the neck scratching her.

The warrant for J. Butler on the charges of disturbing the peace and resisting an officer was the result of an investigation into a disturbance caused by 2 subjects at a residence in Charenton in August of 2015. Deputies learned that the two subjects caused a disturbance by yelling and cursing in the residence. Both subjects left the area prior to the deputies’ arrival. Deputies conducted a search and located one of the subjects in a nearby wooded area. That person was arrested at the time of the investigation. The second subject was identified as J. Butler. Deputies learned that J. Butler fled the area after seeing deputies arrive on scene. Following the investigation, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Tanesha L. Jackson, 25, 2436 Highway 318, Sorrel, LA was arrested on September 18, 2016 at 4:38 pm for domestic abuse battery.

Taelisha R. Jackson, 22, 2436 Highway 318, Sorrel, LA was arrested on September 18, 2016 at 4:38 pm for domestic abuse battery.

A deputy was dispatched to a report of a possible domestic battery at a residence in Sorrel. During the course of the investigation, the deputy collected evidence that T.L Jackson and T.R. Jackson struck each other during an argument. Both subjects were transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Eddie Lyons, Jr.4, 56, 190 Dinkins Road, Charenton, LA was arrested on September 18, 2016 at 7:03 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, speeding, and failure to honor written promise to appear. Lyons was also charged on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, failure to use seatbelts, expired motor vehicle inspection, and failure to honor written promise to appear. Lyons was located at his residence on the warrants and transported to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $680.
