6 names appear on the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office arrest report. Deputies say they investigated 40 complaints over the last 24-hour reporting period.

Bryan K. Burrell, 48, 203 Third Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on December 8, 2016 at 9:32 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of issuing worthless checks. A deputy was dispatched to a complaint of a suspicious person walking on the train tracks on Alice C Road in Centerville. The deputy made contact with Burrell in the area and located the active warrant for his arrest. Burrell was transported to the parish jail for booking. Burrell was released on a $1,000 bond.

Anthony Edging, 18, 106 Watson Lane, Patterson, LA was arrested on December 8, 2016 at 11:36 am on a warrant for simple arson and criminal damage to property. On November 9, 2016, a detective began an investigation into a complaint of property damage and a fire in a sugarcane field off Zenor Road in Patterson. The detective found that a trail had been cut into the sugarcane field and that someone attempted to burn a pile of branches. During the investigation, the detective found evidence that Edging was the subject who entered the sugarcane field and caused approximately $700 in damages. The detective obtained a warrant for his arrest. Deputies located Edging in Patterson and transported him to the parish jail for booking. Edging was released on a $2,250 bond.

James Gaines, 29, 883 County Road #49, Camden, LA was arrested on December 8, 2016 at 1:21 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of domestic abuse battery (strangulation). During booking at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, a correctional officer located the active warrant for Gaines' arrest. No bail is set.

Erica Charles, 46, 344 Sorrel Road, Sorrel, LA was arrested on December 8, 2016 at 4:03 pm on a warrant for failure to appear as a witness. Charles turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office in Franklin and was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Joseph Harris , 957 C Lake Palourde Road, Amelia, LA was arrested on December 8, 2016 at 12:36 pm on a warrant for the following offenses:
- Possession of Schedule I (marijuana) with intent to distribute
- Possession of Schedule II (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute
- Possession of Schedule II (crack cocaine) with intent to distribute
- Possession of Schedule II (Adderall)
- Possession of Schedule II (liquid codeine)
- Possession of Schedule I (MDMA)
- Violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone)
- Transactions involving drug offense proceeds
- Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
- Illegal possession of a stolen firearm
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
During an investigation into illegal drug activity in Amelia, detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Section conducted a search warrant at Harris’ residence. Members of the Morgan City Police Department assisted. Detectives located bags of marijuana, methamphetamine, and crack cocaine. The packaging was consistent with street level sales of the illegal drugs. Two handguns were also recovered. One of the weapons was found to be reported stolen through the Morgan City Police Department. Detectives also found MDMA, a half a dozen Adderall pills, a bottle of liquid codeine, drug paraphernalia, and cash (US currency) believed to be derived from the illegal drug sales. Harris was not at the residence at the time the search warrant was conducted and a warrant was issued for his arrest. The residence is within 2,000 feet of church. Narcotics detectives located Harris walking on Fourth Street and took him into custody on the warrant. Harris was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Chad Harris , 36, 129 Collins Street, Baldwin, LA was arrested on December 8, 2016 at 6:17 pm for the following offenses:
- Resisting an officer
- Obstruction of justice
- Possession of Schedule I (heroin) with intent to distribute
- Possession of Schedule II (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
- Possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance
- Transactions involving drug offense proceeds
- Possession of Schedule IV (tramadol)
- Possession of Schedule IV (Xanax)
Narcotics detectives developed information regarding possible illegal drug activity in Baldwin and initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at a business on Main Street. The driver, later identified as Harris, attempted to evade detectives by traveling into a nearby yard. When the Harris was unable to find a path out of the yard, he exited the vehicle and fled on foot. During the short pursuit, detectives observed Harris attempting to conceal items in a pile of leaves and branches. Detectives apprehended Harris and located several bags of heroin and a bag of methamphetamine he attempted to hide. Detectives found $329 in cash on Harris’ person and tramadol and Xanax pills along with drug paraphernalia and a handgun. Harris is a convicted felon. During the investigation, detectives also found evidence that Harris intended to sell the drugs. Harris was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
