15 names appear on the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office arrest report. Deputies say they investigated 99 complaints over the last 72-hour reporting period.

Paul Bennett , 22, 1400 Ridgefield Avenue, Thibodaux, LA was arrested on December 9, 2016 at 2:29 pm for failure to yield (driving in the left lane) and possession of drug paraphernalia. A narcotics detective observed a vehicle fail to move to right lane so other motorists could pass on US Highway 90 in Patterson. The detective conducted a traffic stop. While speaking with the driver, identified as Bennett, the deputy observed him make repeated attempts to return to his car. The deputy received consent to search the vehicle and located a marijuana grinder. Bennett was released on a summons to appear in court on March 8, 2017.

Krystal Meranta, 27, 206 Clarke Road, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on December 9, 2016 at 12 :01 pm for theft of goods. A deputy was dispatched to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Amelia. The deputy spoke with a store employee and learned that Meranta concealed items in her purse and then left the store without paying for the goods. The deputy located Meranta, who admitted that she stole the items. Meranta was released on a summons to appear in court on March 8, 2017.

Deacon Goodwin, Sr., 42, 206 Greengarden Road, Branch, LA was arrested on December 9, 2016 at 4:21 pm on a 2003 warrant for failure to appear on the charge of disturbing the peace. A correctional officer transported Goodwin from the Lafayette Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Goodwin was released on a $1,000 bond.

Bryan Hebert, 57, 103 Maple Street, New Iberia, LA was arrested on December 9, 2016 at 4:25 pm on a warrant for unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and criminal trespass. In June of 2013, a deputy responded to a complaint of unauthorized entry of a home in Jeanerette. During the investigation, the deputy learned that Hebert entered a home without the resident's permission. A warrant was issued for Hebert's arrest. A correctional officer transported Hebert from the Lafayette Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. No bail is set.

Michael Bourgeois, III, 18, 771 Deforest Lane, Apt, 10, Centerville, LA was arrested on December 9, 2016 at 11:17 am for simple battery. A School Resource Officer responded to a report of a battery at Centerville High School. During the investigation, the deputy found evidence that Bourgeois pushed and hit a female victim. Bourgeois was transported to the parish jail. He was released after posting a $2,500 bond.

Derek A. Parr, Jr., 24, 38506 Cal Road, Gonzales, LA was arrested on December 9, 2016 at 9:51 pm for reckless operation of a vehicle and general speed law violation. A deputy observed a vehicle traveling 90 miles per hour in a posted 70 miles per hour zone on Highway 90 in the Morgan City area. The deputy also observed the vehicle weaving through traffic. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, identified as Parr. Parr was released on a summons to appear in court on March 8, 2017.

Carley L. Griffin, 32, 103 Beau Lane, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on December 10, 2016 at 4:48 pm for reckless operation of a vehicle and hit and run driving. A deputy was dispatched to a single vehicle crash on Victoria Riverside Road. The deputy located an unoccupied vehicle belonging to Griffin. The deputy located Griffin and found that he was operating the vehicle at the time of the crash. Griffin was released on a summons to appear in court on March 8, 2017.

Justin Rhine, 21, 706 Twenty Arpent Road, New Iberia, LA was arrested on December 10, 2016 at 12:49 pm on a warrant from the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office for aggravated assault and theft of a motor vehicle. A deputy located Rhine at a residence in Sorrell on the warrant and transported him to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Anthony Butler, 53, 11429 Highway 182, Franklin, LA was arrested on December 10, 2016 at 2:09 pm for domestic abuse battery (in the presence of juveniles). A deputy responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence in Franklin. The deputy found evidence that Butler grabbed and pushed a female victim during an argument. The physical encounter occurred in front of 2 juveniles. Butler was transported to the parish jail for booking. Butler was released after posting a $3,500 bond.

Nery D. Maldonado, 39, 2001 Second Street, Apt. 6, Amelia, LA was arrested on December 10, 2016 at 8:52 am on a warrant for domestic abuse battery and criminal damage to property. On December 9, 2016, a deputy began an investigation into a report of domestic abuse at a residence in Amelia. The deputy collected evidence that Maldonado struck a female victim in the face and arm multiple times. Maldonado also broke the victim's cell phone during the battery. The deputy obtained a warrant for his arrest and located Maldonado at his residence. He was transported to the parish jail for booking. Maldonado was released after posting a $2,750 bond.

Jose T. Gomez, 37, West Side Trailer Park Lot #44, Amelia, LA was arrested on December 11, 2016 at 1:15 am for the following offenses:
Aggravated battery
Disturbing the peace (fighting)
Disturbing the peace (intoxicated)
Warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of fraudulent documents
A deputy responded to a complaint of a fight at a bar in Amelia. The deputy made contact with the subjects involved. During the investigation, the deputy collected evidence that Gomez struck a male victim in the head with a beer bottle. Gomez was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Nigel L. Singleton, 23, 804 Marshal Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on December 11, 2016 at 1:34 pm for driving under suspension, no insurance, and no proof of registration. A deputy responded to a report of a vehicle that had broken down on the US Highway 90 bridge in Morgan City. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Singleton. While assisting Singleton, the deputy discovered that he was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver's license and without insurance. Singleton was released on a summons to appear in court on March 8, 2017.

Addie M. Guidry, 37, Two Sisters Court, Lot #6, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on December 11, 2016 at 4:00 pm for theft of goods, handicap parking violation, and invalid motor vehicle inspection sticker.

Herman L. Sonnier, 48, 532 David Road, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on December 11, 2016 at 4:05 pm for illegal possession of stolen things.

A deputy responded to a report of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. The deputy located a subject matching the description of the suspect shoplifter exiting the store and identified her as Guidry. The deputy that Guidry was carrying items that had not been paid for. The deputy also made contact with an occupant in the vehicle Guidry was driving and identified the subject as Sonnier. During the investigation, the deputy found evidence that Guidry entered the store, took items from the shelves, and left the business without paying for the goods. The deputy also located several items inside the vehicle with Sonnier. Those items were found to be stolen as well. Guidry was parked illegally in a handicap parking space. Guidry and Sonnier were released on summonses to appear in court on March 8, 2017.

Damien Keller, 33, 111 Bayou Corne Road, Belle Rose, LA was arrested on December 11, 2016 at 10:15 pm for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a report of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. The deputy located a subject matching the description of the suspect shoplifter in a nearby parking lot and identified him as Keller. During the investigation, the deputy found evidence that Keller stole several items from the business. Keller was released on a summons to appear in court on March 8, 2017.
