6 people have been arrested over the last 24 hours by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office. Charges range from drug violations to simple battery to issuing worthless checks.

Clifton J. Vining, Jr., 45, 114-B Southeast Boulevard, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on October 5, 2015 at 7:44 am for simple battery and criminal damage to property. A deputy responded to a complaint of a battery that occurred on the corner of Southeast Boulevard and Highway 182 in Bayou Vista. During the investigation, the deputy learned that Vining struck a male victim in the face. Vining also damaged the victim’s cell phone. Bail is set at $1,000.

Michael Dupas, 55, 1205 Theresa Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on October 5, 2015 at 2:58 pm on a warrant for issuing worthless checks. Dupas turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin. Dupas was released on a summons to appear in court on January 13, 2016.

Christopher Crochet, 25, 1014 Belleview Street, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on October 5, 2015 at 7:15 pm for following too close, possession of Schedule I drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Anthony Harris, 19, 219 West Side Park Lane, Amelia, LA was arrested on October 5, 2015 at 7:15 pm for possession of Schedule I drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Samoa Scott, 19, 702 Hilda Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on October 5, 2015 at 7:15 pm for possession of Schedule I drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A deputy observed a car following another vehicle too closely on Highway 90 in Morgan City and conducted a traffic stop on 9th Street. The deputy made contact with the driver, Crochet, and two passengers, Harris and Scott. While speaking with the occupants, the deputy received consent to search the car and located a small plastic bag containing marijuana inside the vehicle. The deputy also found a pack of small cigars inside the car. Following the investigation, Crochet and Scott were released on summonses to appear in court on January 13, 2015. Harris was transported to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $3,500.

Henry C. Bias, III, 26, 1020 James Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on October 6, 2015 at 2:15 am for tail lights required and driving with a suspended license. A deputy patrolling St. Joseph observed a vehicle fail to signal a turn onto Main Street and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Bias, and learned that he was operating the vehicle with a suspended license. The deputy also found that Bias had a tail light that was not functioning properly. The deputy released Bias on a summons to appear in court on January 13, 2015.
