Over the last 24 hours, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office made 9 arrests and responded to 52 complaints. The arrests are written below:

David Ackman, 35, 714 Julia Street, Amelia, LA was arrested on October 29, 2015 at 6:42 am for the following violations:
- Illegal use of a weapon
- Possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies
- Violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone)
- Possession of Schedule II (methamphetamine)
A deputy responded to a report of a caller hanging up the phone after contacting 911. Upon arrival at 714 Julia Street, the deputy heard gun shots coming from inside. The deputy also observed that one round had travelled through the front door, breaking the glass storm door. The deputy made contact with the sole occupant of the residence and identified him as Ackman. Other deputies responding to the scene located a handgun and spent rounds inside the residence. Ackman told deputies that someone was trying to kill him. Deputies found no evidence of any other subjects being in or around the residence. Through further investigation, deputies learned that Ackman had been using methamphetamines prior to firing the weapon. Deputies also discovered that Ackman is a convicted felon. During Ackman's arrest, deputies located a small bag containing methamphetamine on his person. Ackman's residence where the investigation took place is near an elementary school. No bail is set.

Taylor Darden, 21, 915 Julia Street, New Iberia, LA was arrested on October 29, 2015 at 1:39 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Darden turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. No bail is set.

Juvenile male, 11, Patterson, LA was arrested on October 29, 2015 at 3:16 pm for simple criminal damage to property.

Juvenile male, 13, Patterson, LA was arrested on October 29, 2015 at 3:34 pm for simple criminal damage to property.

A deputy began an investigation into a complaint of property damage at a residence in Patterson. The deputy identified the two juvenile males as the subjects caught on surveillance video throwing rocks at the residence and breaking a window. Following the investigation and arrests, the juveniles were released to their guardians pending juvenile court proceedings.

Roger Grow, 47, 1530 Highway 90 W, Patterson, LA was arrested on October 29, 2015 at 1:09 pm on a warrant for criminal neglect of family (failure to pay child support). A deputy went to the above listed residence and made contact with Grow while conducting a follow up investigation on a separate complaint. While there, the deputy located an active warrant for Grow's arrest. Grow was transported to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at 24,757.25.

William Frederick, 43, 327 David Road, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on October 29, 2015 at 1:43 pm on a warrant for forcible rape. On October 29, 2015, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office received a report of rape. The detective assigned to the case gathered evidence indicating that Frederick had non-consensual sexual intercourse with a juvenile female over the course of several years. The victim was 12 years old when the abuse began. According to the detective's investigation, the most recent incident of sexual abuse occurred in November of 2014. Frederick came to the Sheriff's Office in Morgan City in reference to the investigation. After speaking with detectives, Frederick was arrested on the warrant. No bail is set. This investigation is ongoing and more charges are pending.

Jesse J. Landry, 25, 146 Bid Bear Lane, Franklin, LA was arrested on October 29, 2015 at 4:42 pm for vehicle burglary (attempted). On October 29, 2015, a deputy began an investigation into a complaint of a vehicle burglary that occurred the day before at a residence in the Franklin area. The deputy learned that a resident had confronted a subject in a vehicle after noticing that the inside light of a vehicle had come on. With the assistance of the complainant, the deputy positively identified Landry as the subject who was seen in the vehicle. The deputy located Landry at his residence. After speaking with Landry and other subjects at the residence, the deputy took him into custody and transported him to the parish jail for booking. Landry later posted a $10,000 bond.

Jimmy McGraw, 36, 1026 Red Cypress Drive, Patterson, LA was arrested on October 29, 2015 at 8:01 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family (failure to pay child support). A deputy made contact with McGraw at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office in Morgan City and located the active warrant for his arrest. Bail is set at 22,615.43.

Crystal Comeaux, 37, 601 Bayard Street, New Iberia, LA was arrested on October 29, 2015 at 9:16 pm on a warrant for issuing a worthless check for over $100 to a business in Baldwin. During the booking for another agency at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, a deputy located the active warrant. No bail is set.
