Nine people recently arrested by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office may be spending their Thanksgiving holiday behind bars. Deputies responded to 37 complaints in the last 24 hours.

Brennan Burney, 18, 906 Irish Bend Road, Franklin, LA was arrested on November 24, 2015 at 10:50 am for illegal possession of stolen things, illegal possession of stolen firearms, and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana).

Darien Kiel, 18, 513 Right Way Road, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on November 24, 2015 at 10:50 am for illegal possession of stolen things, illegal possession of stolen firearms, and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana).

Abrean Edwards, 19, 911 Martin Luther King Street, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on November 24, 2015 at 10:50 am for illegal possession of stolen things, illegal possession of stolen firearms, and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana).

DaZjhalun Charles, 18, 113 Diana Lane, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on November 24, 2015 at 10:50 am for illegal possession of stolen things, illegal possession of stolen firearms, and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana).

Just prior to 9:00 am Tuesday, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office received a call from a 911 operator regarding the location of a vehicle that was reported stolen to Lafayette Police. The vehicle's On-Star system indicated its location as Cleveland Lane off of Big Four Corners Road in Four Corners. Deputies were dispatched to the area, located the stolen 2015 Chevy pick-up truck, and observed four male subjects inside. As deputies made contact with the subjects, they also observed that there were guns inside the vehicle. Deputies ordered the four subjects out of the truck. All subjects complied with deputies' commands. While being detained, the driver, who was identified as Burney, told deputies that he had a gun on his person. A deputy located and retrieved a handgun from Burney's pants pocket. Deputies recovered a total of four guns including a shotgun during the investigation. A burnt marijuana cigarette was also found inside the vehicle. Deputies discovered that three of the guns were reported stolen through the Youngsville Police Department. All four subjects were transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Tevin Harris, 20, Franklin, LA was additionally charged with obscenity on November 24, 2015 at 2:52 pm at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville. Harris is an offender who is currently incarcerated at the parish jail. A jailer received a complaint Harris exposed his genitalia to a female visitor at the facility. After conducting an investigation, the additional charge was filed against Harris. No bail is set.

Craig A. Cranford, 32, 736 Ruby Street, Gadseen, AL was arrested on November 24, 2015 at 8:39 pm on a warrant for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court. Cranford was transported from the Etowah County Detention Center in Alabama to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrant. Bail is set at $100,000.

Sheryl Skinner, 42, 101 Pluto Street, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on November 24, 2015 at 10:23 pm for reckless operation of a vehicle and flight from an officer. Deputies patrolling Bayou Vista responded to a report of a reckless driver on Highway 182. The deputy located the suspect vehicle driving towards Berwick. The deputy initiated a traffic stop. However, the driver of the vehicle failed to pull over. While following the vehicle, the deputy observed the driver travel into a turning lane nearly striking an SUV. The driver then came to a stop. The deputy made contact with the operator of the vehicle, identified as Skinner. Following the traffic stop investigation, Skinner was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Michael K. Walters, Sr., 37, Franklin, LA was additionally charged on November 25, 2015 at 12:53 am at the parish jail on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family. Walters is an inmate at the St. Mary parish Law Enforcement Center. A jailer located the active warrant and logged the charge. No bail is set.

Blake Wain, 19, 656 Parish Road 131, Verdunville, LA was arrested on November 25, 2015 at 1:00 am on a warrant for domestic abuse battery (involving a firearm) and false imprisonment (armed with a dangerous weapon). On November 24, 2015, a detective began an investigation into a complaint of domestic abuse. The detective learned that Wain repeatedly abused a female victim punching her in the head and dragging her by her hair. The detective discovered that during a recent incident of domestic abuse, Wain placed a handgun into the victim's mouth and refused to allow her to leave a residence in Franklin. The detective also collected evidence that Wain made verbal threats against the victim and her family's lives as well as the lives of law enforcement. The detective obtained a warrant for Wain's arrest. A search warrant for Wain's residence was also issued. Based on the threats made by Wain and weapons known to be in his possession, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Special Response Team was activated to assist in executing the high risk warrants. During the operation, Wain was located in a vehicle traveling on Highway 317 in Centerville. A patrol deputy conducted a vehicle stop and Wain, who was a passenger, was taken into custody without incident. During the search of Wain's residence, detectives located the handgun used in the crime. Wain was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
