St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Arrest Report

9 people have been arrested over the last 24-hour reporting period by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office. Deputies say they responded to 51 complaints.

Morris Madison , 46, 403 Clark Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on December 15, 2015 at 8:07 am for driving the wrong way on a one way road, no driver’s license, and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of criminal trespassing and resisting an officer. A deputy working assigned to work the school zone at Centerville High School observed a vehicle drive the wrong way down Senette Street. The roadway is a one way street during school zone hours. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Madison. While speaking with the man, the deputy learned that Madison did not have a license to drive and that there was an active warrant for his arrest. Madison was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

James B. Bourque , 24, 110 Martin Luther King Boulevard, Baldwin, LA was arrested on December 15, 2015 at 8:25 am for stop sign violation and driving with a suspended license. A deputy patrolling the Jeanerette area observed a vehicle run through a stop sign on the frontage road of Highway 90 and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with Bourque and learned that he was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. Bourque was released on a summons to appear in court on March 7, 2016.

Vertress Loston, 37, 107 Talbot Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on December 15, 2015 at 2:14 pm on the following warrants:
- Warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses, possession of Schedule I drugs, reckless operation of a vehicle, operating a vehicle with a suspended license, and other offenses
- Warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of hydrocodone, possession of heroin, no seat belt, operating a vehicle without a driver’s license
A deputy investigating a complaint at the above listed address made contact with Loston and located the active warrants for his arrest. Loston was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Juvenile male , 16, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on December 15, 2015 at 5:27 pm for aggravated battery. A deputy responded to a report of a two juvenile fighting on Cypremort Road in Four Corners. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned through witness statements and other evidence that the juvenile struck a 15 year old male victim in the leg with a baseball bat during an ongoing dispute between the two teenagers. After the investigation, the juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.

Dallas Brown , 22, 107 Pequot Creek Road, Charenton, LA was arrested on December 15, 2015 at 5:11 pm on a warrant for second degree battery. On December 12, 2015, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office received information that a battery occurred on Charenton Beach Road. During the course of the investigation, the deputy assigned to the case learned that Brown pushed a female victim to the ground and kicked her repeatedly during an argument. The female victim sustained a broken rib and a fractured rib as a result of the battery. Brown was located on Cherokee Street on the warrant with the assistance of an officer with the Chitimacha Police Department. Brown was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Katrina Darden , 46, 3646 Chitimacha Trail, Charenton, LA was arrested on December 16, 2015 at 2:18 am for driving while intoxicated 2nd offense and reckless operation of a vehicle with a crash. A deputy responded to 911 call of a vehicle that crashed into the water at Burns Point Park. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Darden, and observed signs that she was intoxicated. Darden performed poorly on the field sobriety test. During the investigation, the deputy also learned that Darden was traveling at a high rate of speed when she drove the vehicle into the water. Darden was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Kevin Koczen , 25, 147 Moon Road, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on December 16, 2015 at 2:43 am for careless operation of a motor vehicle, improper lane usage, and driving left of center. A deputy observed a vehicle swerving on Highway 182 in Amelia and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver who was identified as Koczen. Following the traffic stop investigation, Koczen was released on a summons to appear in court on March 7, 2015.
Jennifer Beecher , 31, 190 Beadle Street Amelia, LA was arrested on December 15, 2015 at 6:07 pm for the following offenses:
- Possession of marijuana
- Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Possession of Schedule IV (Xanax) with intent to distribute
- Possession of Schedule I (ecstasy)
- Violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone)
- Possession of a CDS in the presence of a minor
- Possession of Schedule I (synthetic cannabinoids)
- Possession of Schedule IV (Ambien)
- Possession of Schedule III (Subutex)

Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division conducted a search warrant at Beecher’s residence. Detectives located marijuana cigarettes, Xanax, Ambien, and Subutex pills, ecstasy, a marijuana grinder, methamphetamine, several methamphetamine pipes, digital scales, small plastic baggies, and a bag of synthetic cannabinoids. Detectives observed a small child playing in the front yard when they arrived. Detectives also learned that Beecher had attempted to sell the Xanax that they located in the residence. The investigation took place within two thousand feet of a church. Beecher was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Hakeemia Bias , 21, 141 Friendship Alley, Amelia, LA was arrested on December 15, 2015 at 6:27 pm for the following offenses:
- Resisting an officer
- Possession of Schedule II (crack cocaine) with intent to distribute
- Possession Schedule I (synthetic cannabinoids) with intent to distribute
- Violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone)
Narcotics detectives patrolling Amelia observed Bias walking on Friendship Alley. When Bias saw the detectives, he immediately grabbed his pockets and took off running. Detectives identified themselves as law enforcement officers and followed Bias on foot. After the short foot pursuit, detectives detained Bias pending further investigation. When asked, Bias told narcotics detectives that he ran because he had some marijuana on him. Detectives located a pill bottle in Bias’s pocket that contained 19 rocks of crack cocaine and 7 individually packaged bags of synthetic cannabinoids. This investigation occurred less than 2,000 feet from a church at the end of Friendship Alley. Bias was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
