8 names appear on the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office arrest and drug report. Deputies say they investigated 44 complaints over the last 24-hour reporting period.

Carrie Hubler , 27, 309 ½ Leona Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on March 22, 2016 at 5:27 pm for theft of goods.

Peggy Fabre , 49, 4058 ½ Francis Street, Berwick, LA was arrested on March 22, 2016 at 5:27 pm for theft of goods.

A deputy responding to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista collected statements and other evidence that Hubler and Fabre concealed items in a purse and left the store without paying for the goods. Hubler was located at the store. The deputy found Fabre at her residence. Both subjects were released on summonses to appear in court on May 27, 2016.

Leslie Matthews , 41, 178 Friendship Alley, Amelia, LA was arrested on March 22, 2016 at 4:23 pm on a warrant for public intimidation. On March 19, 2016, Matthews called the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office and made a verbal threat against the life of a specific deputy. While responding to a separate complaint, a detective made contact with Matthews at her residence and located the active warrant for her arrest. Matthews was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Walter Wilbur , 54, 2370 Chatsworth Road, Franklin, LA was arrested on March 22, 2016 at 10:26 pm for disturbing the peace (intoxication). A deputy responded to a complaint of a male subject yelling in the street on Hospital Avenue near Haisleigh Street in Franklin. With the assistance of Franklin Police, the deputy made contact with the suspect, Wilbur, and observed multiple signs of intoxication including the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and difficulty maintaining his balance. After speaking with Wilber, he was transported to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $500.

Melvin Thibodeaux, 48, 1423 James Street, Siracusaville, LA was arrested on March 23, 2016 at 1:28 am for the following offenses:
- Operating a vehicle while intoxicated
- Driving on the right side of the road (traveling in the left lane)
- 3 Morgan City Court warrants for failure to appear on the charges of resisting a police officer, driving under suspension, and contempt of court
A deputy traveling on Highway 182 in the Morgan City area observed a vehicle swerving and driving in the left lane without passing or turning. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Thibodeaux. While speaking with Thibodeaux, the deputy smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and observed other signs of intoxication. The deputy administered a field sobriety test. Thibodeaux conducted the test poorly. The deputy also located active warrants for Thibodeaux’s arrest from Morgan City Court. Following the traffic stop investigation, the deputy transported Thibodeaux to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Desmond Richard , 34, 314 Mike Drive, Patterson, LA was arrested on March 23, 2016 at 3:25 am on a warrant for criminal damage to property, criminal trespass, and disturbing the peace (offensive language). In November, a deputy was dispatched to a complaint of property damage at a residence in Centerville. During the course of the investigation, the deputy collected evidence that Richard went to the residence of a female victim who he knew and began yelling and beating on a window, breaking the glass. The deputy obtained a warrant for Richard’s arrest. Early this morning, another deputy developed information regarding Richard’s whereabouts and located him on Hickory Street in Patterson on the warrant. Richard was transported to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $1,250.

Kerry Sons, Jr ., 24, 384 Oregon Street, Berwick, LA was arrested on March 22, 2016 at 2:54 pm on a warrant for distribution of marijuana. Sons turned himself in at the ST. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville. This arrest is part of the Spring Cleaning operation (see 3.16.16 release).

Christopher Howard , 33, 1272 Lockett Road #1, Four Corners, LA was arrested on March 22, 2016 at 6:52 pm on a warrant for distribution of cocaine. Detectives of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division located Howard at his residence on the warrant and transported him to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $100,000. This arrest was also made on a warrant that is part of the Spring Cleaning operation (see 3.16.16 release).
