10 people are listed in the latest St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office arrest report. Battery and vehicle violation charges highlight the report. Deputies say they investigated 31 complaints for the last 24-hour reporting period.

Juvenile male , 16, Charenton, LA was arrested on April 13, 2016 at 9:47 am for illegal possession of stolen things. A deputy investigating a report of a stolen go cart received information that the vehicle was at a residence in Charenton. The deputy located the stolen go cart in the possession of the juvenile. Following the investigation, the juvenile was released pending juvenile court proceedings.

Vivian Francis , 26, 9127 Harbert Hills, Houston, TX was arrested on April 13, 2016 at 9:20 am on the following warrants:
- Warrant for failure to appear on the charges of operating a vehicle with a suspended license, improper child restraint, and operating a vehicle with an obstructed windshield
- Warrant for failure to appear on the charge of operating a vehicle with a suspended license
Francis turned herself in to the Warrants Division at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin. Francis was transported to the parish jail for booking and later released on a $7,000 bond.

Subrena Henry , 55, 415 Camille Drive, Patterson, LA was arrested on April 13, 2016 at 11:34 am for simple battery. A deputy was dispatched to a complaint of a possible battery at a business in Bayou Vista. During the course of the investigation, the deputy collected statements that Henry grabbed the back of a male subject’s shirt. Henry was released on a summons to appear in court on July 25, 2016.

Natasha Ruffin , 29, 412 ½ Fourth Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on April 13, 2016 at 12:15 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, speeding, operating a vehicle with an expired license plate, no child restraint, and failure to honor written promise to appear. Ruffin turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin. She was transported to the parish jail for booking. Ruffin was released on a $405 bond.

Gage Burgess , 17, 1205 Cayce Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on April 13, 2016 at 1:46 pm on a warrant for reckless operation of a vehicle. Burgess turned himself in to the Warrants Division at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin. A deputy investigating a complaint of reckless driving collected evidence that while driving a pickup truck in Centerville, Burgess accelerated at a high rate of speed causing his tires to lose traction. The deputy also developed information that Burgess drove through a resident’s yard in Centerville. Burgess was released on a summons to appear in court on July 25, 2016.

Edward L. Williams , 40, Amelia, LA was additionally charged with second degree battery on April 13, 2016 at 1:50 pm.

Brian H. Henderson , 33, Berwick, LA was additionally charged with aggravated second degree battery on April 13, 2016 at 1:58 pm.

The St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center security team along with the Criminal Investigation Division conducted an investigation into a battery involving three inmates that occurred on April 2, 2016. Detectives collected evidence that following an argument Williams and Henderson repeatedly struck another inmate in the head and face. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment and has been released from the medical facility. Williams and Henderson remain incarcerated with no bond set.

Lacey N. Horton , 27, 317 E. Coteau Holmes Road, New Iberia, LA was arrested on April 13, 2016 at 4:41 pm for possession of Lortab and possession of legend drugs without a prescription (robaxin and neurontin).

Calvin R. Cowart, Jr. , 37, 505 Jackel Lane, Franklin, LA was arrested on April 13, 2016 at 1:50 pm for the following offenses:
- Warrant from Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office for 3 counts theft and 3 counts illegal possession of stolen property
- Possession of a Legend Drug (neurontin)
- Theft
A deputy had information that Cowart was involved in a theft under investigation by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office and was wanted on an active warrant by the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office. The deputy observed Cowart driving on Highway 182 in the Baldwin area and stopped the vehicle. The deputy made contact with Cowart and another occupant in the car identified s Horton. While speaking with Cowart, the deputy received consent to search the vehicle and located several pills in prescription bottles inside a purse that belonged to Horton. Cowart admitted that some of the neurontin pills were his. Horton was transported to the parish jail. No bail is set. Cowart was transported to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin in reference to the ongoing investigation into the theft of several items from a business in the Jeanerette area. Detectives from the St. Mary Sheriff’s Office and Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office collected evidence that Cowart sold stolen items to scrap yards and pawn shops in the Jeanerette area. While speaking with a detective, Cowart admitted to taking the items that were reported stolen. Cowart was booked into the parish jail. No bail is set.

Irwin Francis , 47, 1905 ½ Pine Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on April 14, 2016 at 1:24 am for reckless operation of a vehicle. A deputy patrolling Jeanerette observed a vehicle traveling 80 miles per hour in a posted 45 mile per hour zone in wet weather conditions on Highway 182. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Francis. After speaking with the deputy, Francis was released on a summons to appear in court on July 25, 2016.
