7 names appear on the arrest report released by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office for the last 24-hour reporting period. Simple burglary and theft charges highlight the report. Deputies responded to 31 complaints.

Reginald T. Martin, Sr., 40, 149 Pickett Lane, Charenton, LA was arrested on April 14, 2016 at 8:54 am on a warrant for the charges of criminal trespassing, attempted simple burglary, and theft. Deputies investigating a report of trespassing at a residence on Bayou View Drive in Charenton found evidence that a male subject went onto the victim’s property and attempted to enter into a vehicle. When the perpetrator found that the vehicle was locked he then moved on to the refrigerator and stole several cans and bottles of beverages from the victim. Based on evidence gathered at the location, deputies positively identified the suspect as Martin and obtained a warrant for his arrest. Deputies then went to Martin’s residence to serve the warrant. After receiving consent to search the premises, a deputy located Martin hiding in the crawl space of the attic. Martin was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Sidney L. Acosta, 20, 1821 Linda Lou Drive, St. Bernard, LA was arrested on April 12, 2016 at 1:22 pm on a warrant for 3 counts simple burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. On February 26, 2016, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen vehicle taken from a residence on Arbor Circle in Bayou Vista. Deputies issued a be on the lookout (BOLO) advisory to other agencies for the stolen vehicle. During the course of the investigation, detectives found evidence that Acosta entered into a home and two vehicles in the area driving away in one of the trucks. Also, one of the victims reported that jars of coins (change) and an I-pad were missing from the residence. Shortly after issuing the BOLO, deputies received information that the truck was located by law enforcement in St. Bernard Parish. St. Mary detectives obtained a warrant for Acosta’s arrest and she was taken into custody in St. Bernard Parish. Yesterday, Acosta was transported from the St. Bernard Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrant. No bail is set.

Jeffery Marks, Jr., 23, 2011 Frisco Street, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on April 14, 2016 at 1:27 pm on a warrant for domestic abuse battery (child endangerment) and simple assault. A deputy investigating a report of a battery collected evidence that Marks struck a female victim and made threats that he would kill her during an argument at a residence in the Jeanerette area. The victim was holding a small child at the time. The deputy obtained a warrant for Marks’ arrest. A correctional officer transported Marks from the Iberia Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. No bail is set.

David Burrell, Jr., 32, 118 Township Road, Lafayette, LA was arrested on April 14, 2016 at 1:43 pm on a warrant for conspiracy to distribute Schedule I (ecstasy). During an investigation into illegal drug activity in the Patterson area, a narcotics detective gathered evidence that Burrell conspired to sell ecstasy pills. A correctional officer transported Burrell from the Iberia Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrant. Bail is set at $75,000.

Christopher Pollard, 31, 104 Jordin Lane, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on April 14, 2016 at 2:25 pm for the following offenses:

  • Theft
  • Warrant for failure to appear on the charge of simple burglary
  • Warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family
  • Warrant for probation violation

A deputy investigating a complaint of a theft found evidence that Pollard cashed two checks he stole from a victim. Pollard was a guest in the victim’s home at the time of the theft. The deputy, who also located other active warrants for Pollard, located him at an apartment in Berwick. Following the investigation, Pollard was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Nicole Swackhamer, 30, 205 Jones Street, Apt. #9, Berwick, LA was arrested on April 14, 2016 at 2:25 pm for possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile. During Pollard’s arrest (see previous arrest), a deputy smelled the strong odor of burning marijuana inside the apartment and made contact with Swackhamer and four juveniles. During the subsequent investigation into possible illegal drug activity at the residence, the deputy located marijuana and a burnt marijuana cigarette, commonly referred to as a joint, in one of the bedrooms. Swackhamer admitted that the marijuana was hers. She was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Emilio Chavez Garcia, 38, 3112 Lake Palourde Road, Apt. 4, Morgan City, LA was arrested on April 15, 2016 at 3:52 am for the following offenses:

  • Domestic abuse battery
  • Criminal damage to property
  • Resisting an officer
  • Possession of (open) alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles

A deputy responding to a report of a disturbance at a residence on Lake Palourde Road in Amelia observed a male subject on scene breaking through a window. The deputy ordered him to move away from the residence. Garcia refused to comply. As the deputy detained Garcia he attempted to free himself by pulling away forcefully and swinging his arms. During the course of the investigation, the deputy found evidence that Garcia broke a window in the home in an attempt to gain entry. The deputy also found that Garcia struck a female victim in the face and pulled her hair during an encounter that occurred earlier in the week. While speaking with Garcia, the deputy smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. The deputy located the vehicle Garcia was driving and found it still running with an open bottle of beer in a cup holder. Following the investigation, Garcia was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
