Several thefts from various areas of St. Mary Parish are being investigated by the Sheriff's Office.

Franklin Police have reported that air conditioning coil packs were stolen from a business in Franklin in February.  Police say thieves target those items because of the value of the metal when they are turned into a scrap metal company.

In March, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office received complaints of stolen coil packs from buildings in both Amelia and Bayou Vista.  Police say based on the circumstances and details collected during a joint investigation with the Franklin Police Department, detectives believe the thefts are related, and they are asking for the public's help in getting more leads in the case.

Investigators say the thefts all occurred at buildings that appear to be abandoned.  Detectives believe there are additional victims.

Commercial and storage building and property owners are being urged to check out their sites for any signs of theft.

Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding suspicious vehicles, parked or driving past commercial buildings, are being urged to call police at 828-1960.
