The following is a list of the people who were booked into the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office for this past weekend:

Jacolby Westley, 28, 429 Big Four Corners Road, Four Corners, LA was arrested on April 29, 2016 at 3:16 am for the following offenses:

-     Headlights required

-     Headlights must be dimmed to approaching traffic

-     No driver’s license on person

-     No insurance

-     Expired motor vehicle inspection

A deputy patrolling the Baldwin area observed a vehicle traveling on Highway 83 with only one operating headlight. The deputy also observed that the driver failed to dim the vehicle’s high beams for oncoming traffic. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Westley. During the traffic stop investigation, the deputy found that Westley was operating the vehicle without insurance and without his driver’s license with him in the vehicle. Westley was released on summons to appear in court on July 25, 2016.

Courtney Frederick, 21, 148 North Oaklawn Drive, Franklin, LA was arrested on April 29, 2016 at 6:57 am for general speed law and improper lane usage. A deputy patrolling the Franklin area observed a vehicle speeding 80 miles per hour in a 45 mile per hour zone on Irish Bend Road. The deputy also observed the car travel into the oncoming lane of traffic. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, identified as Frederick. Following the stop Frederick was released on a summons to appear in court on July 25, 2016.

Tommy Hamilton, Jr., 25, 1016 ½ Barrow Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on April 29, 2016 at 2:32 pm on the following warrants:

-     Warrant for failure to pay community notifications as a sex offender

-     Warrant for failure to pay annual registration fee as a registered sex offender

-     Warrant for failure to obtain a special identification card as a sex offender

-     Warrant for failure to notify law enforcement of a change of address as a sex offender

Hamilton was convicted in St. Mary Parish for carnal knowledge of a juvenile in 2013. A detective with the Sex Offender Compliance Division found that Hamilton failed to meet registration requirements and obtained a warrant for his arrest. The detective developed information that Hamilton was at a location on Pine Street in Franklin. A deputy located him there on the warrants and transported Hamilton to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Devan N. Serpa, 133 Shady Grove, Patterson, LA was arrested on April 29, 2016 at 10:08 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities and criminal damage to property. A correctional officer booking Serpa at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center located the active warrant for her arrest. No bail is set.

Engwan N. Joseph, 36, 128 Miggy Lane, Baldwin, LA was arrested on April 30, 2016 at 5:14 am for aggravated second degree battery. Deputies responded to a residence on St. Peter Street in Jeanerette in reference to a possible aggravated burglary. During the course of the investigation, deputies collected evidence that Joseph cut a male victim with a box cutter during an argument. Joseph had been invited into residence by the victim. The victim sustained two lacerations to the shoulder area. He refused medical treatment. Joseph was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Karl D. Bourque, 67, 810 Souviner Gate, Lafayette, LA was arrested on April 30, 2016 at 3:04 pm for reckless operation of a vehicle and passing in a no passing zone. A detective working in the Cypremort Point area during this weekend’s rain event observed a vehicle driving through flood waters at a high rate of speed. The driver then passed the police unit in a no passing zone splashing water into the open window of the unit. A traffic stop was conducted and the detective made contact with the driver of the truck identified as Bourque. During the course of the investigation, the detective collected additional evidence that Bourque passed another vehicle, causing water to splash into the open window of that truck as well. Bourque was transported to the parish jail for booking. He was later released on a summons to appear in court on July 25, 2016.

Ray Robicheaux, 42, 108 Teche Road, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on May 1, 2016 at 2:13 am for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, no proof of insurance, and following vehicles (too closely). A deputy investigating a two vehicle crash on Highway 90 in the Centerville area found that the driver of a pick-up truck, identified as Robicheaux, rear ended another vehicle. The two occupants of the vehicle that was hit and Robicheaux, the sole occupant of the truck, were transported to an area hospital. While speaking with Robicheaux, the deputy observed his speech to be slurred and other indicators of impairment. After being released from the medical facility, Robicheaux was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set. 

Danny Thomas, 53, 237 Dixie Road Lot #1, Franklin, LA was arrested on May 1, 2016 at 7:20 am for violation of the parish ordinance regulating outdoor burning. A deputy patrolling the Franklin area observed a large amount of smoke coming from a residence on Dixie Road. The deputy made contact with the resident, Thomas, and found that he was burning copper at the location. Thomas was released on a summons to appear in court on August 29, 2016.

Drashon L. August, 24, 460 Branch Street, Baldwin, LA was arrested on May 1, 2016 at 6:50 pm for failure to yield to emergency vehicles and possession of marijuana. A deputy was assisting the Franklin Fire Department with traffic control on Irish Bend Road where a power line caught fire. The deputy observed a vehicle approaching at a high rate of speed. The deputy began signaling to the driver to slow down. The driver failed to do so passing the emergency workers at an unsafe speed. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver identified as August. While speaking with August, the deputy smelled the strong odor of burning marijuana. The deputy received consent to search the vehicle and located a small amount of marijuana on the front passenger seat. August was released on a summons to appear in court on August 29, 2016.
