The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Shooting Range shut down in late March as berm work and other general maintenance projects needed to be completed.  The sheriff's office says it will reopen on May 1st.

While the facility was closed, workers installed an archery range.  The new addition has 12 3-D targets and 2 additional targets for sighting in equipment with targets ranging from 30 to 35 years.   The new archery range also has six lanes with 2 3-D targets per lane, offering two separate distances per lane to shoot.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Shooting Range is located off of the service road along Highway 90.  From Franklin, take the service road under the Highway 90 overpass at the Chatsworth Road and Willow Street intersection.

If you're coming from the east, take Highway 317, cross over the railroad tracks and take a right onto Alice C Road.  From that road, you turn left onto the service road.

There are no costs or fees to use the range.
