The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office was called out to the scene of a crash on Duhon Boulevard just before 3:30 Thursday afternoon after deputies say 62-year-old Irma Williams failed to negotiate a curve into Lakeview Drive, and hit a mobile home.

Williams was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Mary Parish Coroner's Office, and her 13-year-old male passenger was flown to a hospital for treatment and later released.

Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be a factor in the crash, but a routine toxicology report is pending.

Deputies say there were people inside of the mobile home when the car crashed into it, but no one in the home was injured.

The coroner says a cause of death is not known at this time, and they will have more information following the autopsy.

Both Williams and the 13-year-old were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
