The National Association of Letter Carriers are on a mission to Stamp Out Hunger today!

Residents are asked to leave a sturdy bag of non-perishable food items next to their mailboxes prior to regular mail delivery time on Saturday, May 11th. Mail carriers will collect the bags when they deliver the mail. Donations will be given to FoodNet - The Greater Acadiana Food Bank for distribution to those in need.

Examples of non-perishable food items needed are canned soup, canned vegetables, peanut butter, pasta, rice or cereal.

The NALC holds the drive on the second Saturday of every year. In 2012, generous Americans donated 70 million pounds of food, which marked the ninth consecutive year that at least 70 million pounds were collected by letter carriers.
