State officials and the federal government are at odds again over the Gulf of Mexico.

The Fed wants Louisiana to put the area known as the "dead zone" in the Gulf back onto a national list of polluted water bodies. But state environmental officials say they won't do that because it would put the Bayou State on the hook for cleaning it up.

Officials say the state doesn't have the power to do that because areas where oxygen is too low are caused by runoff from states further north.
