The Louisiana State Fire Marshal's Office is waiting for autopsy results from the Vermilion Parish Coroner's Office after 61-year-old Doyle Broussard was found dead under his carport last night when firefighters responded to a blaze at his Kaplan home.

Investigators were asked to come to the scene after Kaplan firefighters found Broussard's badly burned body next to his lawnmower at the home at 9931 Huckleberry Drive.

Family members explained to investigators that Broussard was disabled, and he would use the riding lawnmower to go and get his mail.

While investigators know that the fire started under the carport, they do not yet have a cause of the fire.
