State Police say they were conducting a DWI checkpoint when a man driving a 1991 Ford pick-up failed to stop as directed.

The man pulled over a few minutes after the chase started, but he refused to take a breathalyzer. After getting a warrant, police say a blood test showed the man's blood alcohol level was at point-1-8-9 percent. The man was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center on his third D-W-I arrest. A total of 737 vehicles traveled through the checkpoint. Of those, three were arrested for D-W-I.
