State Troopers in Jefferson Davis Parish discovered almost 20 pounds in cocaine during a routine traffic stop this morning. State police say a Chrysler van was pulled over for a traffic violation. When permission to search the van was denied, police bought in a drug canine. The canine alerted the officers to the presence of drugs. The search uncovered 19.6 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of $712,000. The driver, Antonio Shawders was arreseted for possession with intent to distribute cocaine. The passenger, Darrell Currington attempted to flee on foot, but he was apprehended. Currington received the same charge in addition to possession of marijuana and resisting arrest.
