Louisiana's State Police Superintendent Colonel Mike Edmonson is the recipient of a national law enforcement award.  Edmonson received the Buford Pusser National Law Enforcement Award for his work promoting partnerships between local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.

Edmonson received the award this weekend at the 25th annual Sheriff Buford Pusser Festival Law Enforcement Memorial and Awards Ceremony in Tennessee.  He was nominated by Sheriff David Woolfork of Madison County in Tennessee.

The award is given every year to "deserving officers who have exhibited both heroism and leadership in law enforcement."

The award is named for Buford Pusser, who served as sheriff of McNairy County, Tennessee from 1964 to 1970.
