GREENSBURG, La. (AP) — Louisiana State Police say a 36-year-old Pine Grove woman may have been intoxicated when her pickup truck ran off both sides of Louisiana Highway 1042 and into several big trees.
Trooper Nick Manale (muh-NAH-lee), a Troop L spokesman, says the driver — 36-year-old April Rock — was the only person in the 1996 Ford F-250 when it crashed shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday, about one-and-a-half miles west of Greensburg.
He says the truck drifted off the eastbound lane, then swerved back, and hit trees on the other side. Manale says Rock was not wearing a seat belt and was dead at the scene.
Manale says he does not know why the investigator suspects she was impaired by alcohol or drugs, but says police took a blood sample for toxicology analysis.
