State Police Investigating Fatal Crash In Maurice

MAURICE, La. (KPEL) – State Police are investigating a traffic crash in Maurice that killed a person and involved a Maurice police officer.

Troopers say it happened on Highway 167. Police say the officer had his lights and sirens on when someone pulled out in front of him. The driver of that car died from the crash. The passenger and the police officer were taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.

Traffic in both directions is being detoured to Laura Drive.
