The House Appropriations Committee has amended a house bill that removes $800,000 from the Traffic Enforcement Program within the Louisiana State Police's Budget.State Police  Superintendent Col. Mike Edmonson says this will force the department to layoff state troopers. Edmonson says a layoff in troopers would directly affect public safety.  Edmonson says over the past three years State Police has already been forced  not to hire any new Troopers and make significant budget reductions. He says a layoff in troopers would put them below recommended manpower levels.
