If you've always wanted to have a houseboat getaway you're about to get your chance.

Tuesday, July 31, 2013 The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will accept bids for houseboat mooring sites at Atchafalaya Delta Wildlife Management Area in St. Mary Parish.  Bids will be opened at 10:30am.

If you're a successful bidder you will be awarded a five-season lease allowing you to moor your houseboat from Sept. 1 to March 15 each year. The department will provide mooring pilings at the lease site.

You will be able to use your houseboat as a base for hunting, fishing, boating and other activities.

The 14,000-acre Atchafalaya Delta Wildlife Management Area is at the mouths of the Atchafalaya River and the Wax Lake Outlet, about 25 miles south of Morgan City.

You can get more information on the bidding process at www.wlf.louisiana.gov/wma/32639 .  You can also call Cassidy Lejeune or David Leblanc at 337-373-0032.
