State’s Rights In Clinic Plan Under Negotiation
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Leaders of Gov. Bobby Jindal's administration say they are still negotiating the contract that will have the state spending $15 million to build clinics for two private hospitals taking over services from the LSU hospital in Pineville.
Liz Murrill, a lawyer for Jindal's Division of Administration, said Thursday that the state won't give up all of its rights over the land and the buildings to be constructed with state money.
Murrill says if the private hospitals ever end their agreement with the state, the state will have some way to either take back the facilities or get reimbursed for some construction costs.
The issue arose during a meeting of the Interim Emergency Board, a state panel that agreed to allow the construction budget money to be spent on the clinics.
