Stepfather Dies In Family Argument

A family argument turns deadly in Jennings. Last night, Gary Hawkins called local police to his house on Shirley Drive to stop an argument between his wife Annette Hawkins and her son Sterlyn Vital. The mom decided not to press charges, but the stepfather had her son escorted out of the neighborhood. Within a half-hour later, police were called back to the scene where they found the stepfather trapped under his stepson's car. A witness on scene said gunshots were heard and Vital was seen in the car accelerating toward his stepdad. Gary Hawkins died on the scene. Sterlyn Vital was arrested and charged with second degree murder.
