The St. Thomas More band will honor the Vietnam Veterans Saturday at a marching band showcase.  If you have a family member, friend or neighbor who served in the Vietnam War, Band Director Mark Duhe' invites them to attend, and asks that you please share this post with them.

The St. Thomas More Cougar Band will participate in the Louisiana Showcase of Marching Bands State Championship, featuring 34 of the finest high school band programs in the state.  The Cougars are proud to honor the Veterans of the Vietnam War in our production of “Goodnight Saigon: A Vietnam Veteran’s Tribute.”

When:  Saturday, November 7, 2015 - 9:30 a.m.
(Please arrive 30 minutes early to make sure you are seated in time for STM’s performance at 9:30)

Where:  Cajun Field, 2351 West Congress Street, Lafayette, Louisiana

2015 marks the 40th Anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War.  If you are a Vietnam Veteran, we ask that you wear something which identifies you as such (hat, shirt, uniform, etc.) so that your entry fee is waived.  Simply say that you are there for the STM Band performance as a Veteran.  You may sit anywhere on the home side of the stadium.

Toward the end of the band’s performance, a vocalist will sing Billy Joel’s “Goodnight Saigon.”  At that time, it is asked that all Vietnam Veterans stand and be honored with a beautiful fanfare to close out the performance.

Please join the STM Band for their group photo immediately following the performance in the Cajun Field parking lot next to the baseball field on Reinhardt Drive.  It is walking distance from the entry gates on the tunnel side of the field.

Feel free to contact Mark Duhe’ at 337-988-3700 ext 122 or mark.duhe@stmcougars.net  should you have any questions.
