Stocks Continue Rising: Acadiana Business Index

Wall Street continues the advance. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 58 points to 13,252. Mark Lasseigne has your daily stock market report in today's Acadiana Business Index.

Bank of America rose 4.5% and J.P. Morgan Chase gained 2.6% to lead the blue chips.

The Labor Department reported number of U.S. workers filing new applications for unemployment benefits were recorded at a seasonally adjusted number of 351,000 last week, lower than economists expected.

Meanwhile, manufacturers from New York and Philadelphia showed improvements according to Federal Reserve banks.

Light sweet crude settled at $105.43 a barrel.

Gold closed at $1,659 an ounce.
