Lafayette Consolidated Government says debris pickup for those areas affected by the March 12 storms will begin Friday.

Pickup will begin in the city of Carencro before fanning out into unincorporated areas of Lafayette Parish. Consolidated Government says efforts will focus on areas north of Interstate 10.

The contractor, DRC Emergency Services, will only pick up "construction and demolition type debris." That includes carpet, sheet rock, mattresses, and furniture. The contractor will not pick up normal waste, and they will not pick up anything that is bagged.

Consolidated Government says the contractor will make two passes, with a second pass scheduled to be announced at a later date.

If you have any questions, you're asked to call Lafayette Consolidated Government, Public Works Dispatch at (337) 291-8517.
