Another round of severe weather seems likely for portions of Louisiana this weekend. Forecasters with the Storm Prediction Center are putting portions of north and central Louisiana under the gun for strong storms as early as Saturday afternoon and evening.

Elsewhere across the state, there will be less of a risk of severe storms. However, the potential for strong storms will be present through Sunday.

Thursday's beautiful weather across the Louisiana will begin to fade away today. A warm front is already making its way northward across the southern portion of Louisiana this morning. With the passage of that system, conditions will become breezy, warm, and quite muggy.

By Saturday this warm and moist air should cover much of the state. That will be the catalyst for strong storms as a frontal system and strong low-pressure system moves out of Oklahoma and into Arkansas. The atmospheric instability and upper-level winds associated with the system will likely mean severe weather watches and or warnings especially for the northwest portion of the state.

Forecasters believe the system will exit the state late in the day on Sunday and by Monday there should be a return to calmer and sunny conditions.
