Students Hospitalized After Bus Accident In Opelousas

Seven students were sent to the hospital as a precaution after their school bus was struck by a truck in Opelousas.

Police say the crash, which took place at around 7:45 a.m. on the Interstate 49 service road north of Creswell Lane, happened after the driver of the truck lost control and struck the bus. The bus was taking the students and a teacher's aide to the St. Landry Parish Alternative School.

The driver of the truck was not injured, and police said he would be cited for failing to maintain control of his vehicle.
