DULAC, La. (AP) — Students on spring break have again been coming to Louisiana to help clean up lingering damage from Gulf Coast hurricanes. In Dulac, members of a Wisconsin-based Christian mission have been clearing debris from yards, painting and demolishing houses. The Rev. Tom Phillips, pastor at the Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Pewaukee, Wis., estimates that by week's end, the group will have hauled at least 25 large trash bins filled with debris from the areas known as Shrimpers Row and Coast Guard Row in Dulac. The young volunteers tell The Courier that they have been rewarded each night with Cajun food. And they plan to return that gesture: the Wisconsin visitors plan to cook a bratwurst meal for up to 400 Dulac residents before heading home.
