Sulphur Woman Critically Injured In Crash

42-year-old Laura K. Stark-Smith of Sulphur is in a Shreveport hospital in critical condition after La. State Police say she crashed her 2012 Mitsubishi Eclispe Sunday morning.

Spokesman Sgt. James Anderson says the crash happened on U.S. Highway 90 about three miles west of Sulphur in Calcasieu Parish. For unknown reasons, Sgt. Anderson says her vehicle veered across the centerline and opposing lane into a driveway. Upon impact, the vehicle vaulted end-over-end causing Stark-Smith to be partially ejected from the vehicle.

Sgt. Anderson says Stark-Smith was not wearing her seatbelt. Police continue to investigate as a toxicology sample has been obtained.
