UL football fans were looking forward to six home games in 2013. That schedule was to include four conference home games. Well, you know the old saying about "the best laid plans of mice and men..."

The Sun Belt Conference has decided the Ragin' Cajuns will visit the newest member of the conference, Georgia State, instead of hosting.

Georgia State won a blind drawing, giving them four Sun Belt home games. They surrendered the fourth game and UL won a re-draw for it. Georgia State, however, is required by NCAA rules to play the extra home game. This is connected to their switch from the FCS to  FBS play.  The Cajuns have subsequently agreed to travel to Atlanta.

UL’s 2013 schedule will now include Sun Belt home games against UL Monroe, Texas State and Troy. They'll travel to Sun Belt members Arkansas State, South Alabama, Western Kentucky and Georgia State. The dates of the Sun Belt games are TBA.

The Cajuns non-conference schedule currently includes an Aug. 31st visit to Arkansas, a Sept. 7th road trip to Kansas State, a home matchup against Nicholls State at Cajun Field on Sept. 14th and a visit to Akron on Sept. 21st.

They are in negotiation to host New Mexico State for a Nov. 2nd non-conference game. If the deal is made, the Cajuns will have five home games in 2013.
