LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — New figures have shed some light on the performance of two charter schools in Lafayette Parish.

In August, Charter Schools USA opened the Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy and the Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy.

The Advertiser reports the scores show that at Acadiana Renaissance, most students appear to be performing well. The school's sixth grade science scores are in the top 25 percent of all Charter Schools USA schools.

However, at Lafayette Renaissance, the scores are a slightly different story. The results showed that 39 percent or fewer students were performing below national targets in first-grade reading and math, second-grade reading and math, third-grade reading and math, fourth-grade math, fifth-grade math and sixth-grade reading and math. All of those are in the bottom 25 percent for CSUSA schools.
