Suspect Arrested After Lafayette Stabbing
Early Sunday morning, Lafayette Police were called out to the 700 block of Jefferson Street after there was a report of stabbing.
The victim told police that as he was leaving his apartment the suspect allegedly forced his way inside while armed with a knife.
The victim says the man tried to stab him, and the victim grabbed a lamp to fight off the suspect. Police say the victim had multiple lacerations to his neck and hands.
Police arrested 56-year-old Frederick Benton on a charge of attempted 2nd degree murder. Benton suffered broken ribs and a punctured lung while allegedly attempting the crime. He was treated at an area hospital and then booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
