Lafayette Police say 19-year-old Shaquille Batiste surrendered to law enforcement, and he was booked on charges for armed robbery and simple battery.

Police allege that on December 5, Batiste robbed a business in the 1200 block of Moss Street.

Police also say after leaving the business, Batiste ran into a male juvenile in the 100 block of Mabel Street and allegedly pulled out a handgun then demanded money from the juvenile victim.

The victim struggled with the suspect, and Batiste then fled the area.

The victim received minor injuries during the incident.

Police say their investigation is still going on.
