Update – Suspect In New Iberia Shooting Is Boy’s Brother

Iberia Parish Sheriff's detectives have issued an arrest warrant for 21-year-old Akeam Daniels.

Daniels is wanted for charges of aggravated 2nd degree battery, illegal discharge of a weapon and simple criminal damage to property after an 8-year-old boy was shot last night.

Iberia Parish Sheriff's Captain Ryan Turner says Daniels allegedly shot the boy Monday night around 6:30.  This happened in the 600 block of Robertson Street.

Since being shot, the little boy, who Captain Turner says is the brother of Daniels, has been transferred to a Baton Rouge hospital for treatment of his injuries.
