Sheriff Ackal says the majority of vehicle burglaries happen when they are left unlocked, and criminals have been know to just go from vehicle to vehicle, looking for unlocked ones with valuable items inside.

"Criminals are lazy and will preferably use the least amount of effort necessary to commit a burglary," says Sheriff Ackal. "However, a small amount of effort, like locking a vehicle, will go a long way to help prevent crime."
