28-year-old Anthony St. Julien of Lafayette has been arrested in the stabbing death of 28-year-old Damien Watkins and now sits in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.

Corporal Paul Mouton with Lafayette Police says investigators had issued an arrest warrant for St. Julien for 2nd Degree Murder in Watkins' death.

Mouton says witnesses told them Watkins went into the barber shop in the 1100 block of 12th Street around 8:00 p.m. on Thursday night and got into a verbal argument with the suspect. Police say the two men then began fighting, and the suspect allegedly used a sharp object to stab Watkins in the ribcage, killing him.
