Suspect Killed Following Standoff In Iberia Parish
Louisiana State Police and Iberia Parish Sheriff's deputies are investigating an officer-involved shooting that has left one person dead.
According to our news partner KATC, deputies were responding to a domestic disturbance Saturday at a New Iberia residence where 40-year-old Shannon Labit had allegedly stabbed two women.
Louisiana State Police spokesman said Iberia Parish deputies reported Labit barricaded himself inside the home when authorities arrived.
In an attempt to apprehend the suspect, deputies entered the home and were approached by the suspect who was wielding a knife.
One of the deputies fired one shot, killing Labit.
The investigation is ongoing.
