DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Md. (AP) — Maryland police say a suspect who was shot during a struggle over an officer's gun has died.

Prince George's County police identified the suspect as 30-year-old Asshams Manley of Forestville. He died Saturday. Police say tests show Manley was under the influence of drugs during the confrontation with police.

Investigators say an officer was patrolling in District Heights, about 10 miles southeast of Washington, D.C., on Friday night when he heard a car crash and went to investigate. The officer saw a suspect running away from the scene and followed the suspect.

When the officer caught the suspect, police say there was a struggle over the officer's gun. The suspect was shot during the struggle.

Investigators say Manley continued to fight with the officer. A second officer deployed a stun gun. A third officer restrained him.
