Lafayette Police are still seeking the person responsible for a shooting that happened just after 10 o'clock Sunday night in the 300 block of Dewey Street.

The victim told police that he was at an event when the suspect walked onto the property wearing all black clothing and a ski mask.

The suspect, who had a gun, tried to rob one of the people, when the victim intervened.

The suspect fired a shot at the victim hitting him in his left side.

Police say the suspect then fled on fled on foot after taking a neck chain.  The victim is in stable condition at a local hospital.

Lafayette Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
