The Lafayette Metro Narcotics Task Force were investigating the business named Burnt and 2Burnt after learning that they might have been selling synthetic marijuana.

The Task Force sent undercover agents to the business to buy some of the substances being sold there.
Once they brought the substances to the Acadiana Crime Lab to be tested for illegal chemicals and found those chemicals, search warrants were obtained for the businesses.
During the search, agents found over 2100 grams of the synthetic marijuana with a street value of $43,030, 170 grams of marijuana with a street value of $3400, a hand gun, and $70,000 in cash.
The following people were arrested during the execution of the warrants;
  • Brent Millet for possession with intent to Distribute Schedule I narcotics.
  • Amanda Farris for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of Schedule I narcotics and Illegal carrying of a weapon with a control dangerous substance.
  • Jean Plaisance for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to Distribute Schedule I narcotics, possession of Schedule I narcotics, illegal carrying of a weapon with a control dangerous substance.
  • Mary Plaisance for possession with intent to Distribute Schedule I narcotics.
  • Eddie Plaisance for possession with intent to Distribute Schedule I narcotics.
  • Tamara Wilson for possession with intent to Distribute Schedule I narcotics and distribution of Schedule I narcotics.
  • Giovanni Vercelli for possession with intent to Distribute Schedule I narcotics.
