After surprise pay increases were approved at last night's budget adoption meeting, Lafayette City-Parish President Joey Durel spoke with "Your Afternoon Drive Home" to defend Lafayette Utilities System director Terry Huval's $100,000 raise, which Durel said was "a long time coming."
Bellard said the issue of a public vote on the safe-light/speed van cameras will first have to be researched by the City Attorney Mike Hebert before a petition can be started.
Three Lafayette Councilman, Jared Bellard, Andy Naquin and William Theriot will be introducing an ordinance tonight that would allow Lafayette Utilities System customers to "opt out" of having a smart meter attached to their homes.
