A group of Shreveport-area civic leaders has commissioned a study on the possibility of merging LSU-Shreveport and Louisiana Tech University.

The Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus says its members will oppose any attempt to merge the University of New Orleans campus with the historically black Southern University at New Orleans campus.

Governor Bobby Jindal wants the Board of Regents to undertake a study of whether the University of New Orleans and Southern University of New Orleans should be merged and become part of the University of Louisiana System.
