TANGIPAHOA, La. (AP) — Louisiana State Police are investigating a deputy-related shooting in Tangipahoa Parish which left a man dead.

Trooper First Class Nick Manale says it happened about 2:30 a.m. Saturday at Club 81 on Highway 51 in Tangipahoa.

The deputy was on duty at the time and responded to a report of a fight at the club, Manale said. It was unclear what led to the shooting, which left 18-year-old Cjavar Galmon fatally wounded.

Galmon, of Kentwood, was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

No one else was injured.

State police were called in to investigation, which is common in police-involved shootings. "Further information cannot be released until the investigation is complete," Manale said.

The deputy involved has not yet been identified.
