AMITE, La. (AP) — A Tangipahoa woman has been sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty in the stabbing death of a Kentwood motel manager.

District Attorney Scott Perrilloux said Tuesday that state District Judge Ray Chutz sentenced 36-year-old Joyce Stinson Myers, who pleaded guilty July 10 to a reduced charge of manslaughter.

The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/LwHQks ) that Myers told investigators she attacked and killed Eugene Dong Lee on July 11, 2010, because voices in her head told her Lee had put cameras in the room where she lived at the Kentwood Plaza Inn.

Myers originally was charged with second-degree murder.
